A Course to Help You Overcome Your Trauma

Recover From Grief + Trauma

We see the pain you're carrying—and we know how heavy it is.
When life is shattered by tragedy, betrayal, or loss, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or numb. You’ve tried to keep going, but the ache won’t go away. The Pain to Purpose Course meets you in the midst of your valley—not with quick fixes, but with guided healing. We’ve walked this road ourselves. With biblical wisdom, trauma-informed insights, and a proven framework, we’ll walk with you toward real healing. You don’t have to stay in survival mode. There is hope. There is healing. And it starts here.

Repair the Broken Pieces

What happened to you matters—but it doesn’t have to define you.
After trauma, everything can feel fractured: your identity, your relationships, even your faith. This course helps you name what’s been broken and gently walk through the process of rebuilding. We help you address what’s beneath the surface—grief, shame, anger, anxiety—so you can move forward with clarity and courage. We don’t just offer information. We offer transformation. With biblical truth, soul care practices, and practical tools, you’ll begin to see wholeness take shape—piece by piece.

Re-Ignite Your Purpose

You were made for more than just surviving your story—you were made to live it with purpose.
Pain may have altered your path, but it hasn’t canceled your calling. Inside this course, we help you reconnect with your God-given identity and reimagine your future through the lens of redemption. Whether you feel disqualified, directionless, or disconnected, we’ll help you design a purpose-filled life that aligns with God’s heart. This isn’t just healing for your past—it’s fuel for your future. Let’s rebuild your life by design, not default.

When trauma, tragedy, or major life transition occur …

people show up initially … but eventually they move on.

Without a clearly marked path and a carefully devised plan this valley you’re facing will only seem to grow darker, more depressing, and more difficult to navigate.

You are left alone and don’t know where to go.

This course will give you a pathway and a plan to move through your valley.

Davey Blackburn

In November of 2015, Davey’s wife Amanda was murdered in a home invasion, along with their unborn child. As the lead pastor of a church plant in Indianapolis and the father of their 15 month-old son, Weston, Davey was forced to not only live through this tragedy, but learn to lead others through pain as well. Throughout the journey, God walked Davey on a path of healing that he couldn’t have orchestrated for himself.

He started The Nothing is Wasted Podcast and after hundreds of conversations with others who have found purpose in their pain and through coaching people 1:1 through their trauma, Davey has curated the healing principles he learned into an 11 session video course to help you live, learn, and lead through pain. In the video course Davey walks you from point ‘A’ to point ‘Z’ of navigating your valley, helping you uncover the things God wants to teach you, and leading you to a renewed sense of purpose out of your pain.

He is the author of Nothing is Wasted: A True Story of Hope, Forgiveness, and Finding Purpose in Pain and he is the executive director of Nothing is Wasted Ministries. He currently lives outside of Indianapolis, IN with his wife, Kristi, and their three kids Natalia, Weston and Cohen.

Bob Bankhead

  • WBob has forty years of church ministry experience and has walked with many people through various losses and tragedies. In October of 2021, he faced the greatest tragedy
of his life when Shari, his wife of over thirty-seven years, died due to complications from COVID-19. As a pastor, he thought he understood loss and grief, but he realized that training and experience had not prepared him for the pain he would endure. Through his own grief journey and healing, he discovered a new purpose and calling to help others
navigate healing and recovery as they move forward with purpose and hope.

In 2024, Bob transitioned from pastoral ministry and started A Grace Encounter to help others experience restoration and healing. He has pursued healing for himself and sought training and education to assist others on their journey to healing and wholeness.

In 2024, Bob married DeeDee, who shares his passion and commitment to walking alongside those who have faced tragedy.

Tammy Gerber

  • Sexual abuse, Infertility/Miscarriage, Eating Disorders, Adoption/Fostering

Tammy is a Registered Nurse and Certified Trauma Recovery Coach. Her desire to be a coach was born out of her own journey with trauma. The trauma Tammy experienced throughout her life caused her to carry profound shame. She has experienced sexual abuse, an eating disorder, infertility, miscarriages, adoption, perfectionism, chronic health struggles, and a child with severe mental illness. Shame is as old as the Garden of Eden, and a very effective tool of our enemy. Shame causes us to minimize the emotions and wounds of our heart, fragments our thoughts and memories, isolates us from others, and causes negative neurobiological effects throughout our physical body. It affects ALL of you, keeping you from living wholeheartedly.

Tammy believes three things are key to finding healing. First, the ability to tell a more true and accurate story of your life by taking an honest look back at how trauma has affected you. This will help you bring to light and break the stronghold that shame can have on people who experience trauma. Second, to believe, and then experience, that you are deeply loved by God and that you are valuable to Him and worthy of His love. Tammy was saved by Jesus at age sixteen, but she didn’t know that she was loved by Him until much later in life. And third, to share your story of trauma, healing, and hope with others in whatever way God asks you to, bringing hope to others and purpose from your pain.

Surviving the pain of sexual betrayal, enduring the torment of narcissistic abuse, and battling addiction within her family, she has walked a path few would dare to tread. But through it all, she has emerged stronger and wiser. Tami's journey is a testament to the human spirit's capacity for healing and growth with the grace of God. Today, she stands as a beacon of hope, offering guidance and inspiration to those on their own path to recovery. Her story reminds us that even in our darkest moments, there is light at the end of the tunnel, shining through with divine love.
